The reconstruction program began three days after the ambush.
The council approved it faster than I expected.
Elder Gregor complained about the cost, the number of workers required, and the risk of bringing Mooncrest builders onto Ironclaw land. He spoke for nearly twenty minutes before Alpha Viktor asked whether he had a better plan.
Gregor did not.
Modric sat at the head of the table throughout the discussion, his face unreadable. He had reviewed my proposal the night before and returned it with several security notes written in the margins. Additional guards. Rotating patrols. Restricted access to the eastern ridge. Every supply vehicle would be searched before entering the settlement.
