It seemed like my heart wanted to break out of my chest, as John declared his intentions. If he told the public what happened, Lucas’ businesses would be affected, he would be spoken about by almost everyone. I wouldn’t be spared either. Apart from partaking in the ridicule, and mockery, the Grangers would not let me be.
