I wrote last night off as an anomaly, just Jaxen being Jaxen.
Figured that was the end.
And then my phone rings at noon, and the voice on the other end says: “Ms. Ravencroft? I'm Charlotte Fox. I'm Alpha Hale's new executive assistant.”
I almost dropped the phone. “... Okay?”
“I'm not a scammer,” she added quickly. “I used to be a department VP. You can verify my credentials with Hale Corp. I just wanted to make sure you felt comfortable.”
I don't doubt her story. With Warrick fired, Jaxen needs a new warm body in that seat. What I can't figure out is why she's calling me.
