“…The world has gone insane.”
That was the only explanation I could think of.
I would rather believe the entire world had lost its mind than believe Jaxen had suddenly figured out that he loved me.
The look on his face fell.
Being told that the first sincere confession he’d ever made sounded disgusting had clearly hit him harder than he’d expected.
He knew he deserved it.
If one confession couldn’t make me believe him, then he’d have to say it again.
And again.
Until I believed him.
He quietly remarked, “The world hasn’t gone insane.”
My hand moved across my forehead.
“I don’t care. Just go.”
“Okay.”
He actually left.
That part didn’t surprise me.
Apparently, he had already started treating my apartment as a place he could come and go from whenever he pleased.
