Scarlett POV
He covered my mouth with his hand, clearly trying to stop me from talking long enough to regain his composure.
“Scarlett, I know things between us weren’t like this before. I’ll get back to normal as soon as I can. While I’m still not myself, you can make fun of me all you want. But can we take things slowly?”
My eyes fluttered rapidly, trying to signal that I had something to say.
He showed no sign of releasing me.
“Some things can wait until I’ve recovered.”
Then he took his hand away and kissed my parted lips.
I stared at him, completely bewildered.
Had I misheard him, or was Jaxen losing his mind all over again?
Hadn’t he just said we should take things slowly and wait until he recovered before doing anything physical?
