As soon as I’d finished speaking, Ryan stared straight at me.
His expression was complicated, and I couldn’t guess what he was feeling.
I did not know whether the news that Jaxen and I wouldn’t be living together anymore made any difference to him.
I wasn’t arrogant enough to assume he was secretly overjoyed.
Being stared at for that long made me uncomfortable.
Ryan didn’t seem inclined to say anything, so I glanced toward the door.
“Mr. Parker, if there’s nothing else, I’ll get back to work.”
My words seemed to bring him out of whatever thoughts he’d been lost in.
“All right. Go ahead.”
“Okay.”
I turned and left his office as quickly as I could.
