His words grated on my nerves.
I looked at him.
“What exactly do you mean by that?”
Was he mocking me for not having a boyfriend?
“I was simply stating a fact.”

“One of these days, I’ll date someone just to prove you wrong.” Then I lifted my chin. “I’ll get married quickly, have a baby, and build a happy family.”
