I wake up outside, right where Altair knocked me out. I didn’t even know he could do that, but he knew his mate needed him and pulled me into sleep so he could go to her. Luckily, she let ME go to her, too.
I look around, realizing that I’m lying on the floor of the porch, my mom cradling my head in her lap as Dad stands over me protectively.
“You’re awake,” Mom says, relief flooding her.
