“Carlo, carry her while Valentina and I cover the front and rear. We can't get her out through the window at this pace, so we'll have to go through the house. This damn place looks more like a military fortress than a home. We're outnumbered, and our only advantage is the element of surprise.”
“Which is...?” I shout.
“I just said it's a surprise!” he replies as though that should be obvious.
“You make no sense!”
“We'll take the service staircase since it's narrower. We'll probably run into a few of Nero's men, and the two of us will have to eliminate them. The main exit is reached through the central staircase—we're going to set it on fire so no one can surround us. I brought ten more men with me, and they're already surrounding the perimeter. They'll lure Nero's soldiers away.”
