“Are you okay? I can tell something's bothering you,” Axel said as he poured two glasses of wine.
“It’s nothing. Really, don’t worry about it,” I replied, trying to brush it off.
“You know you’re a terrible liar, right?” he said, his intense gaze locking onto mine.
“I swear it’s nothing. I was just thinking about how I really don’t want to see my friends right now. I feel a bit embarrassed,” I confessed, looking down and avoiding eye contact.
“Embarrassed? Why’s that?” he asked, genuinely curious.
