As I lay in bed, tossing and turning, I struggled to find solace in the darkness. Just as I thought sleep might finally embrace me, a familiar sound pierced through the stillness—the soft yet persistent sound of someone pacing outside my bedroom door. They weren’t knocking or calling out; instead, the rhythmic footsteps betrayed a sense of agitation and urgency. Curiosity mingled with a flicker of irritation as I swung my legs over the side of the bed and padded across the room. When I finally opened the door, I was met with the sight of Stefan, and to my surprise, he looked genuinely startled, his eyes wide as if he had expected to find something else entirely. “Is there something I can help you with?” I asked, leaning against the doorframe as the cool night air brushed against my skin.
