Nikolai Vetrov ~•~ I woke up before my alarm. I always did on this day. For a moment, I considered rolling over, pulling the blanket back over my body, and pretending this day didn’t mean anything different. It never worked, but the thought came every year anyway. I exhaled slowly and got up. Usually, Rafael liked to go with me, but I wanted to be alone this time so I didn’t bother him. I just went straight to the shower, got dressed, and quietly left the house. The sun hadn’t risen by the time I arrived at the floral shop. I bought two bouquets of white lilies. I wasn’t sure what my father liked, but he used to buy white lilies for my mom when they were still alive. The florist smiled when she saw me. I came on the same day every year and I bought the same flowers every year too.
