Nikolai and Rafael were both lounging on the couch opposite mine. I smiled as I stared at him, recalling how strongly Nik had opposed them being friends when I first met them.
I didn’t understand it then, but after a month of working at their company, I finally understood why.
“I have a question.”
Both of their heads whipped up at my words.
“What’s with the secret friendship?”
Nik merely stared at me while Ralph’s lip lifted in a slow grin. “Interested in our lives, aren’t you?”
I rolled my eyes. We didn’t talk much about our lives. Not our childhood. Not our hobbies. And definitely not our family feuds, but I was too curious for this one.
“Our families hate each other,” Nik answered. “Some elders might die from a heart attack if they see us together.”
