"So Doctor, am I ever going to hear again, or is this permanent?" I wrote down. I turned the book towards him to read. He took the book from me and read it, then took a pen out of his pocket. He started writing and when he was done, he handed the notebook back to me.
I picked it up to read it. "After looking at all of your results once we got them all back, we found that you have swelling on your brain. It's pushing down on your ears, and as a result, you're not able to hear. Once the swelling goes down, then you should be able to hear again. But just to warn you, it may take some time for it to go down. You could get your hearing back tomorrow, or it could be a year from now. We just won't know until the swelling goes down how fast that you'll get it back."
