Ember “I take it you like mac and cheese?” Looking up from the bowl of food, I find Zaid staring at me with a smile on his lips. It seems he is happy to see me eating. “I do. I’ve never had something so delicious before,” I answer, picking up another spoonful and taking a bite. Zaid just chuckles, turning away to grab his own bowl of food before coming around the kitchen island and sitting beside me. “Have you tried it with ketchup?” he asks, reaching for the bottle of red sauce in front of us. “No, not yet,” I say sheepishly, my gaze captured by my mate as he swirls a few lines of the sauce onto his mac and cheese before adding salt. He notices my staring and takes my empty spoon from my hand, scooping a bit of his pasta into it and holding the filled spoon out to me. “Try one bite.”
