Zaid I enter my office, and Marv closes the door behind us, holding his index finger to his lips to keep me silent. I watch as he takes a device from his pocket and uses it to scan my office with deft movements. Once the scan is done, he returns the device to his pocket. “Good. No one has tampered with your office,” he mutters with a grin. Confused, I ask my uncle what he means by “tampered with my office,” but he ignores me, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. I know he is scenting for something, but I don’t know what. His relieved sigh tells me he has gotten the desired results. “Zaid,” he says, his tone serious and low. “I’m not sure how much you trust Harold, but Amos and I have found evidence of corruption in the Council, and it all points to him.” He points to my pocket
