Her gaze swept the room like a queen surveying her court—not with arrogance, but with the quiet confidence of someone who had come prepared. Alex stood tall beside her, his jaw clenched, amber eyes flickering like fire. He had not wanted her to come. Not here, not now. But she’d insisted.
