ALEX POV The only thing driving me was the thread connecting me to her—faint but unwavering, tugging me in the right direction. I knew this forest, every inch of it, like the lines of my own hand. But that distance between us gnawed at me, and my chest felt like it was on fire. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was too late. That some twisted force was trying to tear her away from me. I pushed harder, picking up speed, branches whipping at my face, stones digging into the soles of my boots as I tore down the path.
