Shocked And Surprises.
"No way..." I muttered to myself as Luther walked out of the kitchen. The moment the door clicked shut behind him, I leaned over the sink again and splashed another handful of cold water on my face. The sting of it did nothing to ease the heaviness in my chest.
Behind me, I could feel her eyes burning into my back. Maya was still there, standing with her arms folded, a wide, smug grin stretched across her face like she’d just won something.
"So," she finally said, her voice dripping with fake sweetness, "Luther—my dear brother—doesn’t want your child. I mean, it’s obvious, isn’t it? You’re only his wife for one thing. Just sex."
