Alex Benjamin had never been a man to linger on unease. In business, hesitation could cost more than money. But tonight, alone in his office with the city spread wide and restless beyond the windows, unease was all he could feel.
The documents in front of him should have been routine — contracts, revisions, balance sheets. He had reviewed hundreds like them before. Yet as his eyes moved over the neat lines, a prickling began at the base of his neck.
