When we sat down from breakfast, Katie was unusually hungry this morning. She had confided in me about a week after she came home that she always watched what she ate and never took second or third helpings, because it would have just been another reason for Alejandro to beat her. But despite her fear of what is to come tonight, she was able to eat much more than she has these past few days, and I am not sure if it’s because she had broken out of the mentality that she would get a beating for eating more or that it was something else.
