"Mom, what are we eating tonight?"
As always, Naomi picked Lily up from school and brought her home.
The second they walked in, Lily bolted straight for the kitchen, eager to see what was cooking. Finding it empty, she came racing back out to ask.
Facing Lily's wide, hopeful eyes, Naomi couldn't help but laugh.
She crossed the room, smoothed a hand over Lily's slightly tousled hair, and crouched down to her level. "How about we go to Grandpa's for dinner tonight?"
"Grandpa?" Lily tilted her head. "The Sinclairs?"
Naomi nodded, something uncertain creeping into her tone. "Yeah. If you'd rather not, that's totally fine too."
