The next morning, Naomi dropped Lily off at school.
The moment Lily walked into the classroom, the usual chatter died down instantly.

Julian's expression was pinched, clearly dragging his feet the whole way.
"It's been confirmed Lily did not cheat." Ms. Carter gestured for Julian to step forward. "Julian lied about what happened, but he's had time to think it over and reflect."
She shot him a pointed look.
Julian's hands curled into fists. He walked over to Lily, bent forward stiffly, and forced the words out through gritted teeth, barely above a whisper. "...Sorry."
