Brett Cassie was already sitting in our usual row when I walked into class Monday morning, and the first thing I noticed was the empty desk beside her. The second was how relieved I felt. After everything that happened Saturday night, I had spent most of Sunday wondering whether she would move. Different row, different side of the room, anywhere that put distance between us. Instead, she sat exactly where she always did, typing on her laptop with a coffee beside her. Normal. Except nothing felt normal anymore.
