Ben’s voice thundered through the hallway, hitting like a physical blow. Sam nearly vaulted out of her seat, her heart hammering against her ribs as she and Allie were interrupted mid-discussion about Genevieve’s future.
“Sir?” Sam whipped her head around, her brow furrowing. She had rarely heard Ben sound this genuinely irritated, and the sharp edge in his tone set her on edge.
“I thought my instructions were clear,” Ben said, stalking toward them with a look of controlled frustration. “I told you to secure a protection order and a TRO against Genevieve Stone. So why, exactly, am I hearing reports that she’s currently being hauled into a cell under arrest?”
