Lily More than a week had gone by, and I was having my daily call with Elias. He sounded happy. I could tell he had a good week. He told me about some kind of training exercise he had run, and how my father had said something approving, and he was still riding the high of it. "How's the program?" he asked like he always did. "Fine but busy." Unlike before, there was so little I could tell him without mentioning Caiden accidentally and having Elias have a meltdown. "You always say busy." He groaned and I could tell he was pouting. "Because I'm always busy," I joked, and he laughed too. There was a pause before he added, "Seventy-five." I blinked. "What?" "Seventy-five days. Till you're home." "Oh." I did the math in my head. Then I did it again, because the number didn't feel right.
