Fiona I told myself I wouldn't think about him again after the bookstore. It had been such a small, strange collision of two lives that were never supposed to overlap outside the mansion's walls, and the safest thing I could do was file it away as a moment that simply wouldn't repeat itself. I mostly succeeded, or at least I convinced myself I had, until three days later when I stopped at the small grocery store near my apartment after finishing my shift, still tired from another long day of being someone else, wanting nothing more than to grab a few things for dinner and get home to check on my mother. I was standing in the produce section, debating between two slightly bruised avocados, when a familiar voice spoke from somewhere behind me. "We really do keep running into each other."
