“I don’t think I’ve been this energized since… well, ever,” Arden mumbled, lying across Warlord with her head resting on his chest. Warlord smirked, gently caressing her shoulder as he rested his chin atop her head.
“It’s the power of the mate bond. It does wonders,” he murmured into her hair.
“I hate that I have to leave tomorrow. I feel like this isn't enough,” Arden sighed, the weight of the coming separation settling back over her.
“That’s because it’s not. But we have to play this right,” Warlord said, his voice grounding her. “Hopefully, all the marks I’ve given you will be enough to sustain you until all of this is over.”
