After the confrontation in the dining room, Hennessey bolted to find Kael. Since he was off duty for the rest of the day, he was tucked away in their hidden lair reviewing surveillance feeds when she burst in.
Startled by the sudden intrusion, Kael jumped out of his seat and spun around hastily. When he realized it was only Hennessey, he let out a breath of relief, though his relief was quickly replaced by irritation.
“What the hell, Hen!” he snapped.
“Shhh!” she hissed, ignoring his outburst as she retreated to a corner and began to pace frantically. Kael watched her, a brow arched in suspicion.
