Another few days passed, and it was finally time for Hera to go to orientation at UNLV with Adam. Poseidon wanted more than anything to go with her, to walk the campus and make sure she would be okay, but he couldn't get out of work. He had exhausted his personal days for the remainder of the year, and he couldn't afford to dip into his PTO or sick leave just in case a real emergency arose later.
As much as it chafed at his protective instincts, he had to let go of the reins. He had to trust that Adam would keep her safe—even though, deep down, he knew Hera was more than capable of handling herself.
