Back at the packhouse, Joel had been given the entire day off by Leah and Brandon so that he and Hera could spend some uninterrupted time getting to know one another.
Earlier in the office, Hera had indicated that she was willing to accept Joel as her mate, but it came with one strict condition: he had to give her actual time to get acclimated to the pack, to her new life, and to the overwhelming reality of finding her mate less than twenty-four hours after arriving.
Joel was more than happy to accommodate that stipulation without hesitation. As a dominant wolf, his instincts were humming with the desire to claim her, but as a man, he was just incredibly relieved and happy that Hera hadn't rejected him outright. He was willing to move at whatever pace she needed.
