Two hulking figures blocked the entrance. Bodyguards. Of course. I pushed forward, I told Nico not to intervene because I don't want any drama today.
"I need to see Maeve," I said, my voice surprisingly calm.
"I am sorry ma'am, but I was instructed not to let anyone enter," the one on the left said, his face impassive.
"She called me. She needs help."
"Everything is fine here. You need to leave." he insisted, making me look like I was stupid, but I won't leave without seeing her.
Maeve’s voice, filled with terror, echoed in my head. "Get out of my way!" I shouted, adrenaline surging through me.
He moved to stop me, but I was quicker, and I guess, but yes, of training really did do me good.
