The eve of forever

1521 Words

(Kael) Two months later. I stand at my office window watching the pack prepare for tomorrow's wedding. Workers setting up chairs near the moon pool. Others hanging lights in the trees. The whole pack is filled with excitement. Tomorrow I marry Aria. Tomorrow I crown her as my Luna in front of everyone. The thought fills me with joy. And fear. Not fear of marrying her. Fear that I don't deserve this happiness after everything that happened. "You're thinking about them again," Thunder says in my mind. 'I can't help it.' 'They would want you to be happy.' 'Daniel wouldn't.' 'Daniel made his choices. You didn't force him to betray the pack.' I know Thunder is right. But knowing doesn't make the guilt go away. The past two months have been hard. Harder than I expected. Elara helps.
