I'm in the war room staring at the maps. It's past midnight. Everyone else is sleeping or should be sleeping. But I can't rest. Not after today.
Rowan is in the medical wing. Broken. Out of commission for three days. Maybe four.
My beta. My second in command. The wolf who's been at my side for fifteen years. Taken out by my own son.
Thunder is angry. 'Daniel did this on purpose.'
'I know.'
'He targeted Rowan specifically. Disabled him. Weakened our command. Now Talia must have felt it and she's probably even more scared.'
'You're right, Talia is going to want to come back. But she has their daughter to think about so she can't leave the safe house and whether that was Daniel's idea or someone else's, the result is the same. We're weaker now.'
