~ A couple of days later ~

Karma knows something. Something that nobody else does. Don't ask me how I know, but I do. I can see it in his eyes. The way they linger on certain people. The way they harden, like he's on edge when certain people enter the room. The way he covers me with his body when certain eyes are on me.
I tried to ask a couple of times. Sometimes underhandedly, sometimes outright. All times, Karma shuts me down. So, I started paying attention to him. More than usual. Because apparently, the man had forgotten that I knew him better than anyone.
Right now, most of us are in the barroom, having drinks, talking, having fun. Some brothers are wasted. Eva
