My mouth opened and closed for a moment. I wanted to argue. They aren't the only ones that want answers, but... I've been wanting to have this conversation. I just never thought it'd start like this.
"It wasn't like that," I said quietly. "It was punishment."
"Punishment? For fu.cking what?" CG gritted out, barely holding it together.
My eyes flickered to Havoc and then each of them. Part of me doesn't want to tell them. I don't want them to feel bad. They didn't know. But another part of me knows that I have to say it. I won't be able to fully trust them until I know why they sent me back.
"For running away," I murmured, my voice breaking at the end.
