Lumi’s POV
The water is too hot, I know it is.
I can feel it against my skin—sharp, almost burning—but I don’t move. I just stand there, under the stream, letting it hit the back of my neck, my shoulders, my spine like it’s supposed to wash something away. It doesn’t.
Nothing about today washes away, not the way he looked at me. Not the way he spoke, not the way I said fine like I knew what I was agreeing to.
My fingers press lightly against the tile wall as I tilt my head forward, closing my eyes. Why does he make me feel like this? It’s not just physical.
That would have been easier, simpler. Something I could explain away, control, shut down when I needed to.
But this? This is something else.
