Ethan and Adrian are seated at a breakfast table. Laylah walks in, silent and staring at the ground. She takes the seat across from Ethan.
Adrian begins to put food on his plate. Once he’s done, Ethan does the same. The two of them begin to eat, not once acknowledging Laylah as she sits silently at her empty plate.
She’s little, maybe nine or ten. Her hair is down and a mess. Clearly, she needs someone to help her fix it, but I doubt she ever had that at Glowing Rocks. Grace walks in, a scowl on her face.
“Here,” she says, placing a small cup on the table in front of Laylah. “The whole vial went missing. I had to get them to brew more. Luckily, they had it all on hand.”
Adrian arches an eyebrow. “I’ll see to it that they have extra, though they shouldn’t go miss
