Actually, we probably could have, but we were already late and if I couldn't drop off the car at a suitable hotel ahead of the concert -- so that I could have a drink -- there wasn't much point in staying over; I could drive back home in a couple of hours anyway. That decision made, we enjoyed the gig and soon after one in the morning we were pulling to a stop outside our cottage.
I parked right outside the front door, rather than in my usual spot around the end of the house; if I'd gone there I would've seen Roma's sister's car parked-up and perhaps had one less surprise? What saw me stopping were all the lights; it seemed as if every light in the house was burning and once the pick-up door opened I could hear music in the air.
