The wolves sent to Frostvale returned the following afternoon. I was with Sera when one of them came looking for me. He'd delivered our message directly to Lyrienne as Caius had ordered. My mother had sent an answer back with him.
"She's coming," he said. "She asked me to tell you she would leave Frostvale within the day." He lowered his head respectfully. "She said there were a few things she needed to arrange before leaving."
"Thank you." I couldn't stop myself from smiling. "Did she say how long she'll stay?" I hoped it wouldn't only be for a day.
"No." The wolf glanced toward Caius, who had joined us. "She only said she would explain when she arrived." He waited until Caius dismissed him before leaving.
