I kept the book against me while Tavian returned to the chest. Frostvale was another name I'd never heard before today. My mother had gone there searching for Corvin and never returned to Evercrest. I needed to know everything Tavian could tell us before we followed her.
"How far is Frostvale?"
"About a day's journey from here."
I looked at Caius. There were still several hours of daylight left, and we had no reason to remain in Evercrest until morning. We could cover part of the distance before stopping. I wanted to keep moving.
"We should leave."
Caius nodded.
"I agree."
Tavian looked at the book in my hands. He didn't ask for it back, and I knew he never would. Lyrienne had left it for me. It belonged with me now.
"Is there anything else I should know before we go?"
