We stayed where we were for another minute. Neither of us wanted the afternoon to end. I wished it could last a little longer.
A knock came at the door. I looked toward it before looking back at Isla. She smiled when she saw my face. I already knew I wasn't going to like the interruption.
"I suppose that's our peace ending."
I smiled before standing. My eyes stayed on her as I crossed the room. I reached for the handle. Then I opened the door.
Pryor stood outside with a respectful nod. His expression told me this wasn't a social visit. I stepped into the hallway before pulling the door closed. I already knew Isla would hear every word anyway.
"The Chief Elder asked me to deliver a message."
