My father waited for me to begin. I thought about how much to tell him, but there was little reason to hold anything back now. Silvermere was no longer simply a place missing from maps. Too much of Isla's life had been tied to it.
"We found Silvermere," I said. "Isla and I went there."
My father's expression changed. "You actually found it?"
"Yes."
He sat back in his chair. I had expected surprise, but what I saw looked more like disbelief that the place still existed. That told me his knowledge went beyond seeing a name in old records. I wanted to know how far beyond.
"Elara is the Keeper there," I said. "The territory is still occupied, and they've kept themselves hidden all this time."
