Livia felt hot tears sting her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. Her chest ached with the weight of Mrs. Sheila's words, each one cutting deeper than the last. "You don’t understand," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Mrs. Sheila leaned back in her chair, folding her arms across her chest. "What I understand, Livia, is that you’re being ungrateful. You’re part of the most respected pack in the kingdom, and instead of appreciating what you have, you’re sitting here whining about how hard things are. Life is hard, Livia. Get used to it."
