We couldn’t go back into the house. Ardent suggested leaving, and I just stared blankly with tears in my eyes, looking at my kids.
Should I go with them? What kind of mother would I be if I just let him take them? The twins were newly born, and Precious didn't even know Ardent was her dad yet.

I looked at Ally. She was frowning, clearly annoyed with Ardent. This has to be so unfair to her. I couldn’t even bring myself to ask her about it because I was so ashamed and confused.
"Mommy, Uncle Ardent said let's go to the hotel!" Precious called out, totally excited.
