The older woman looked at me in total disbelief. I just pouted and stared at the food I should’ve finished earlier.
"Mommy," Therese whimpered, calling out to her mother-in-law, who was left completely speechless.
"Please, Mom, just leave," Roger requested calmly.
"We’ll talk at home," she snapped before turning around and marching out. Therese was left standing there, stunned. I gave her a challenging grin and arched an eyebrow.
"So, which bank are you planning to rob?" I asked teasingly.
"Y-You..." Her voice trembled with rage. But before she could do anything rash, security approached her. They told her that if she caused a scene, she’d be taken straight to the precinct.
Once the prospective in-laws finally left, Roger and I went back to our meal. He was sighing every few seconds.
