"Sir... your parents are here." I smiled immediately. "My parents?" I looked at Clara; she seemed surprised too. "They didn't tell me they were coming." I stood up almost instantly. "They never do." They usually showed up when they were passing through New York. My father always said that an impromptu visit allowed you to see how a person really lived, without time for pretense.
