Ethan I'd lost count of how many times I'd driven the same route from the police station to Clara's company. I felt like no matter how many times I circled the city, I always ended up back in the same place: uncertainty. I drove in silence, my hands firmly on the steering wheel, my jaw clenched. I couldn't get the officer's words out of my head. The witness recanted, the vehicle disappeared, we found no explanation. Every answer generated three new questions, and that wasn't normal anymore.
