Serena’s pov Damien stood there without a word, tall and imposing, the moonlight casting sharp shadows across his face. But what made me shudder wasn’t just his sudden appearance, it was the dark, wet stains on his leather gloves. Blood. My eyes widened in panic. Damien sighed impatiently, peeling off one glove and tossing it to the ground. “Relax, it’s not mine.” That did absolutely nothing to calm me. “That doesn’t make it better!” I muttered. He gave me a flat look. “Quit whining! I said "It's not mine, I had to do some business.” I paled. “Business?” What kind of business involves being covered in blood? “Gangsters.” I blinked rapidly as my eyes met his. Had I said that out loud? He looked… annoyed. Like I was the problem for being startled or I should’ve been grateful
