I woke up groaning, pain shooting through both my wrists, now wrapped in bandages. “Ow…” I hissed, wincing as I glanced at Jason, sprawled out beside me, snoring, his body pinning one of my hands. “Jason… ouch, get off!” I snapped, shaking him with my free arm. “What, what…” he mumbled, his voice thick with sleep, eyes barely open. “You’re hurting the hell out of me!” I cried, my voice sharp with pain. “f**k…” He jolted upright, yanking himself off my hand, his face shifting from groggy to panicked in a second. “s**t, Rowena, I’m sorry, you okay?” I cradled my wrist, glaring at him. “Do I look okay?” He rubbed his face, guilt flashing in his eyes. “I didn’t mean to—damn it. Let me check the bandages.” “Don’t touch me,” I said, pulling back, my wrists throbbing. “You’ve done enough.”
